ANIMAS LIVE DUO

ANIMAS is a musical project imbued with a great sense of belonging, which recounts the past and present with care, and projects itself into the future, with current topics and songs of peace and universal love, aimed at all peoples, with stylistic simplicity but great musical and poetic awareness.

In the Animas repertoire, each note is chosen with care, in its expression, in its dimension, in its volume, and together with the others they create harmony, song after song, which takes the listener into a dimension of peace and joy, of meditation and devotion, between the sacred and the profane of a land, Sardinia, which has centuries of history enclosed within its music.

ANIMAS is a project desired and thought about for a long time by guitarist Alessandro Melis, who has had countless experiences with internationally renowned artists of the Sardinian tradition since he was a child: he grew up in a Quartese family, where Sardinia has always been the daily bread. He has played in groups that have made the history of Sardinian music, not least his decades-long collaboration with Giovanni Puggioni (Duo Puggioni's guitarist), developing modern guitar accents intertwined with tradition without distorting it, but rather enhancing it in its deepest roots.

The meeting with Sabrina Sanna, the voice, made Alessandro's desire to express belonging, magic and Sardinia possible: her strong emotional expressive vocality allows and her spirit of eclectic belonging allows her to sing different languages of Sardinia, "Campidanese",  "Logudorese", "Gallurese", "Algherese", without neglecting any region of our land, but rather by his desire in the repertoire, songs, stories and tales in music are exalted and returned to the public which can culturally enrich the listener and preserve a precious legacy for which she herself says, we are all responsible.
