THE BOURGEOISE OF THE 19TH CENTURY
At the end of the nineteenth century, the ruling class was the bourgeoisie: above all, they were farm owners, bankers, industrial entrepreneurs and traders.
They lived in a state of wealth, for this reason they managed to have greater influence on decision-making, often assuming high public and administrative positions.
An example is Ottone Bacaredda, mayor of Cagliari at the end of the 19th century who, with resourcefulness and intelligence, brought the city towards modernity and progress with the construction of numerous works.
In this context, some important families moved who had numerous assets and farms in Quartucciu.
We remember the lawyer Ballero, Antonio Vivanet, Count Pes; the same house called "Corte Cristina", was the residence of Count Fois, where Sardinian freemasonry was born.
