Welcome to the folk associations "Città di Quarto" and "Su Idanu"

Last week, two excellences of Quartese culture joined the Tourist Association of Quartu Sant’Elena, the historic folk groups "Città di Quarto" and "Su Idanu".

The first, led by President Gianni Orrù, is the organizer of the now famous international folklore festival, which takes place every year at the end of July since 1985, the Sciampitta: ten days in which Quartu Sant'Elena overflows with colors, those of folkloric groups from all over the world who meet specifically for the occasion.
The streets of the city are filled with music, singing with the Mexicans and dancing with the New Zealanders, in a union that makes us feel part of the same whole and that brings this event to be known worldwide.

The second, led by President Lucio Carboni, also aims to preserve and make known the Quartese traditions, in particular traditional clothes. The intent is not to lose them, but to revive them every time you go out in costume to parade at a party or organize an event; in fact, the group attends cultural events such as the feast of Sant’Elena Imperatrice or Sant’Efisio in Cagliari.
Their flagship is the event "So dressed in Quartu", which is organized in September and which re-proposes the clothes used in the city in the period from 1820 to 1920.
