Thalassotherapy

The Tourist Association of Quartu Sant’Elena in collaboration with Smy Hotel Sighientu, promotes a new initiative that opens the doors of thalassotherapy to residents of the city of Quartu (and not only), suffering from Multiple Sclerosis and ALS.

The Smy Hotel Sighientu Resort opens up to the outside world for this great initiative. From 1 September 2021, the project will allow non-bedridden disabled people suffering from rare diseases that compromise their neuromotor functions to easily benefit from the services made available by the Spa of the Hotel Smy Sighientu. Sea ​​water reduces spasticity and promotes relaxation of the antigravity muscles.

This kind of water activity is also useful for maintaining and developing the skills acquired by disabled people on a social, relational, motor and cognitive level.

The availability of a lift for transferring non-ambulatory people into the water will allow wheelchair-bound patients to have direct access to the seawater pool, thus exploiting 'this primary resource, rich in trace elements (iodine and mineral salts) which perform a' vitalizing, rebalancing and relaxing action on the muscles. Therefore, access to a Bio-Marine Path in the concentrated salinity pool, which, thanks to the various hydrojets and whirlpools, stimulates and relaxes every part of the body.

The times and methods will be appropriately indicated by the qualified staff, who will follow the guest step by step, advising how to make the most of the multiple properties of thalassotherapy. All at a discounted rate for the disabled (20 euros per session, including an aperitif or drink of your choice) which allows everyone to access the benefits of sea water and this type of treatment.

A unique service throughout Sardinia for which we will also seek the support of the institutions to make it completely free. For people arriving from distant locations there will also be the possibility to stay in one of the rooms equipped for disabled people and take advantage of a special spa-half board / full board package.
